Alabama is a 5-year-old retired greyhound residing at the Greyhound Adoption Center.  She came from the Caliente racetrack in Mexico after registering an astounding 391 races during her lengthy career.  Alabama can’t live with cats or tiny dogs, but would be happy living with another dog over 30 pounds.  Alabama is a happy, playful girl who will be a great companion for an active family with children. All dogs from the Greyhound Adoption Center have a complete medical evaluation, are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and get a thorough dental cleaning.  They’re evaluated for temperament and personality, and tested with cats, small dogs, and young children before being profiled for a home. Construction at the facility has forced them to cancel their August Open House; however, private kennel tours may still be arranged every day between the hours of 1 and 3 PM by appointment.  It’s a wonderful way to learn more about greyhound rescue, rehab, adoption, and volunteer opportunities.   Meanwhile, the next Open House will be held on Sunday, September 18, between 1 and 3 PM.  For more info call 877-HoundSavers or visit HoundSavers.org.
