Bowie: Friday’s Adoption Pet 05/13/16
Age: 1,5 years old
Sex: Neutered Male
Organization: Greyhound Adoption Center, 4821 Dehesa Road in El Cajon
BOWIE is an ex-racing greyhound residing at the Greyhound Adoption Center, and he’s already retired at just 1.5 years of age. He arrived in January with a horrific injury to his right rear foot – the bones were literally snapped in two. After surgery and a very lengthy and tedious recovery, he’s finally medically cleared for adoption. All greyhounds at the Center are fully evaluated for temperament and personality before they are profiled for a home, and while Bowie has not yet been cat tested, he interacts well with large and small dogs and would enjoy a home with older children who would be mindful of his injury. Thanks to donations, the Greyhound Adoption Center is able to help dozens of greyhounds with broken legs. Ten of their fifty residents are currently recovering from racing injuries. Most go on to enjoy full lives as family pets, as soon as they’re spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and get their teeth cleaned. Come out to one of their monthly Open Houses and tour their facility to learn more about rescue, rehab, adoption and volunteer opportunities. Find out more at HoundSavers.org or call 877-HoundSavers.
